Love

"Whenever I watch romantic movies, witness couples kiss and make up, listen to love songs.. I smile and feel good 'cause I know that love still works, if not for me, at least to others." - Ally McBeal

Of makeup and whiteheads

Here I am again with my favorite topic. Whiteheads. Maybe I should rename my blog to something like "Chronicles of my Whiteheads" or "The girl who rants about Whiteheads". For weeks now I had been patiently reading blogs and articles about whitehead. How to cure them. As well as using different products. Sadly I don't think it's possible to be completely whitehead free once you have them. The nose will keep on producing oil whatever the weather is and whatever product you use. The same way our body will keep on producing sweat whether it is summer or winter. But at least it is proven and tested that having a 'botox' in underarms will prevent you from sweating. Whereas there is no such treatment for the nose that will stop it from producing oil. Oil control products can hold off oil only for a few hours then the nose is back to normal again. Oil. The root cause of whitehead.

The other day I watched Nikki Tutorials on YouTube. She's amazing. She put on makeup only on half of her face to see the big difference. Sometimes I wish I can do the same but then I lack the skills to do so. Second video I watched was about Filipinas makeup common mistakes which left me scratching my head and  a little ashamed of myself as I was guilty to some of them. Nikki said that there is no rule in makeup. Do whatever look you want to aim for. While this Filipina who made the video pointed out (which she learned from another make up guru) that one must not use eyeliner in the eye line if you will not put it also in your eyelids. So I am doing it wrong whenever I use an eyeliner then? Which is easier to give up and eyeliner then. Easy to give advice especially when the person giving an advice has a hooded eyelid. But then after watching these videos make me think.

I gathered all the foundation, bb cream and cc cream I own. No matter how good it is or even if it says to be oil free and non comedogenic still it can't help that some of it will aggravate the whiteheads on my nose. Which made me vow never again to purchase any of those. Also I will avoid the SA's more than ever. As I recently purchased Rimmel Nude Foundation as I was stupidly persuaded by the SA when all I wanted to buy was the Rimmel Makeup Base. An impulse purchase as I was trying to find a brand that can replace Essence All About Matt Oil Control Makeup Base which is hard to find. Persistent SA and me are not a good combo.

And now I can see myself eventually giving up makeup soon. I'll just finish whatever I have. Foundation and the likes are no no for my whiteheads. No eyeshadow. No mascara. No eyeliner. I'll just finish the ton of blush on and lip products I purchased when I was on shopping spree for those. Seems to me that only those are safe enough for me to use.

My life with whiteheads!

This is a rant post. Since I hit puberty I always have whiteheads. Mother told me because I am not scrubbing my nose with towel properly. But I did and I still do. It has nothing to do with cleaning the face anymore. And I am even following the tips I get from the internet.
Nose strip. It is something I cannot live without. It is a very affordable solution in removing whiteheads. But unfortunately it can only do so much. No I am not going to bash nose strips as it has always been a big help. But it has a limit. For example after using one strip I can see that there are whiteheads removed and sticking in the strip. But even so there would still be some on the nose. I can't use immediately another strip as it is not recommended and might dry out my nose. It will prompt the skin to just release more sebum that in the end I'll just get more whiteheads.

I clean my face twice a day.
I use facial toner.
I use moisturizer.
I use oil free products.
I'm staying away from products with Lanolin.
I always look for Non Comedogenic products.
I scrub my face.
Tried various exfoliators.
I am using charcoal mask for nose.
I am using iWhite mask for nose.
Is there anything I missed? There's only one more product I haven't tried yet. I hope it is affordable. I hope it is available in UAE Market. Here it is:
Not my photo.
Will hunt this product soon..

Small Kitchen

*Photo is from Pinterest.
This is indeed a cute and small kitchen. I don't have any issues with having a small kitchen as long as it is clean and organized just like in this photo.

But at least this kitchen looks like it has a window in front of it, based on the light and the shadow of the chair. I am living in a flat with a small kitchen too. But the problem is it is a closed space. No windows in the kitchen or near the kitchen. And even if there is can I bear to open it when the weather feels like summer 10 months in a year?

Cooked onion rings one time. It was just an onion rings but then the odor afterwards was a torture. It hangs in my hair, in what I was wearing, in the walls in short in the whole flat. So imagine the agony it is a fried fish. Or any other meat.

Deodorizer ~ I am currently using a deodorizer from Daiso. I might do a trial and error in different brands. Maybe the Daiso I am using is working but not enough as it cannot overpower the odor of whatever I am cooking.

Scented Candles ~ this is quite dangerous as I have said the space is closed and small. So have to be very careful. And expensive too. It helps but just a little. It can only mask the smell as long as it is lit on but not to make it vanish. The smell of the food will linger for hours and there's no way to leave  candle burning while I'm not at home or sleeping.

Air Spray ~ just like the scented candle it can only mask the smell for a few seconds. Tried spraying in the kitchen then closed the door. Upon opening the door again, it was the smell of food that welcomed me. Instead of the smell of air spray or freshener.

Vinegar ~ read somewhere that leaving a bowl of vinegar in the kitchen will make the smell go away. Tried once opening a bottle of vinegar but I'm not too sure if it worked or not. I might really leave a bowl of vinegar in the kitchen next time around.

Air Purifier ~ this is the only solution I haven't tried yet.

Do having a husband/wife is the most important thing?

One of the reasons why I am not using my facebook account anymore (aside from it is getting so boring and nosy) is people that I met in elementary, high school, college, work or neighbors and even some relatives do keep asking around the same questions. One of them is "why you are still single?" answering them will just encourage them to ask more questions. I stopped talking to my colleagues too as to block them from asking me personal questions.

When I joined the company some 6 years ago, most of us are all single then one by one all of them got married. I think right now there are only 2 of us who are not yet married. Some colleagues are not yet married but they do have kids. I am sick and tired of answering their questions. They should not even asking me about stuff that I do not want to talk about.

WHY DO THEY WANT TO KNOW ANYWAY? It is okay if they do care but most of the time they just want something to talk about. Of course, nobody wants to be lonely. Nobody wants to grow old alone. All of us are waiting/wishing/hoping to find that perfect someone. But do all of us are meant to find that perfect someone? Do all of us have will find our soulmate? I do not know how many times I discussed with my very close friends that at this age it is hard to find "real man".

Need to go now.. Will continue my story some other time..

What comes into your mind when you hear the word "OFW"?

This is the question that I want to ask to some of my relatives, neighbors, friends, to those NAIA staffs, POEA employees, to those people in the agencies, to the politicians, even to the kids. I don't mean to post sad things, but then I need to let it out of my chest. Because sometimes, I feel that PEOPLE see us as some sort of ATM machine. They do not even care whatever we are going through. What ever will happen to our future.

We are also human beings, working abroad because there is not much opportunities in our country. Working abroad, doesn't make us rich. Even if we do have the latest gadgets doesn't even qualify us to be called RICH. Being away from the comfort zone is bad enough. SO how much more of the things that we do experience everyday?

I'm sick and tired of hearing people that since we are working abroad we do have a lot of MONEY. People expect a lot from you. If those expectations were not met, they have the nerve to be mad at you. And when you are not going home for such a long time, they will think that you must be saving tons of money in the bank. It doesn't even occur to the that maybe you don't even have enough money to buy a ticket home :(
