Love

31

Photo From Google

When I was a kid, I never thought about being 31. For me, ages are just numbers. I am 31, yet I don't feel like one. I feel like I am still on my teenage years. Only then I realized what people used to tell me that you can always be young at heart. For I am still young at heart.

Being 31, is not such an easy stage. Yes, I am still in love with colors and yet I'm no longer at the age where I can just wear anything I want or just buy whatever is there that are on sale or on season. Finding the right fashion for this age is not a joke. First, I must buy the basics. So last weekend I searched around for a white shirt or plain shirt appropriate for my age but then I came home empty handed. Yeah, I saw many shirts/tops/blouses but most of them will suite for girls on their early 20's or younger. I still love to wear shirts but in spite of the sale going on I can't just pick up any shirt to wear outside!

Shoes. I love heels and different colors such as pink, yellow, green, blue but then not all the time it will suite me the way it will look cute on younger girls. Recently I purchased a loafers. Hoping it will look professional and elegant without trying so hard. Plus, if I will wear high heels all the time I have to be ultra careful! I tripped once and the experience was not so good at all, the pain was unbearable that I thought I will faint from the pain. It's not good for my health and I don't want to suffer later on in my life because of it.

Jeans. Goodbye low waist jeans. Hello chinos and trousers! Even for jeans/pants I must choose carefully. Gone are the days that I can get away with just any jeans. I'm still dying to rock those colored jeans but I don't want to look like that I'm trying hard to look young as if I am still on my teenage years.

Even the make up, I can no longer experiment. Bright colors are a big no NO too!! I do not know if I will be able to get everything right. I'm just hoping I will be able to get through this, get used to it. I'm sure the things I mentioned are not enough. But one step at a time, even finding a good tops for simple malling is driving me crazy!

So for all the kids/girls out there, enjoy your youth. Especially for those who can't wait to grow up. Growing up is cool and fun but at the same time with so many obstacles. It ain't easy; sometimes I even wish that I'll be forever in my 20's..

Coffee Flavored Jellybean

On one of my trips to Carrefour of Mirdif City Center, I found this gem! For others it might just be another jellybean. But for me, this is heaven. I do love jellybean and I do love coffee. I am always in search for snacks that happens to be a coffee flavor. I can describe it only in one word "awesome"!

Twitter

Another social networking that I do enjoy using. No need to reveal your real name nor put your photo. A place where I do not need to follow certain people just because I know them or I work with them (just like what the FB is doing once you signed up one way or another it has a way of letting the whole world know that you joined the site). Sometimes when I am bored I find myself pouring out my heart to this site. Just about anything under the sun. The movie I have seen the other night. The food that I have eaten. Places I have been. My opinions to whatever is happening around me. Will this social network survive? Or just like Facebook time will come that it wil be boring that people will start deactivating their accounts?

Popcornopolis

Popcornopolis is now available in Mirdif City Centre.
What I love about this is they have different flavors of popcorn.
And they are the  only shop in the UAE that have Sour Cream and Onion flavor. Price of 29AED. I will update this blog about their other products/sweets once I visit them again. As always I am in a hurry so no time for me to linger around longer and take snap shots.

But one thing I can say about their popcorn is: delicious!

Chips Ahoy Chewy, not available here!

CHIPS AHOY Chewy
Good morning to all! Another snack that I love that I can't find in groceries here in the UAE but it is availale in the Philippines. The only chips ahoy available here is the blue one which is dry compared to this flavor.

Yesterday I left a comment in one popular blog in Dubai asking the readers to tell me just in case they will see where can I buy those hard to find snacks like this one.

This weekend, I will go to some grocery stores in Ajman and suggest these snacks that I love and let's see if they will bring them over here and for sure I am not the only one who enjoys them.

Have a nice day!

Pik-Nik Cheddar Cheese

Photo from Google

Do you love Pik-Nik Cheddar Cheese as I do?
I have known Pik-Nik since I was a kid, but unfortunately this is one of the few things that are not available anywhere in the UAE. I aready searched all the grocery stores that do carry Filipino products. This is not a Filipino product by the way, it is from US but widely available in the Philippines.

It is so good which makes me wonder why those grocery stores doesn't bring this product over here? Here in Ajman, there are now 5 grocery stores that says they have a complete range of products straight from Manila but then why this is not even included? Every time that a colleague will go on vacation I always ask them to buy for me.

Anyways, I will try to request those grocery stores if they can bring this product over here and will update the result..

UPDATE:

Last Friday I went to West Zone grocery store in Sharjah at the back of Sahara Mall. I was surprised to see that almost all the flavors of PIK NIK are available! To think that I spent months looking for it in all the grocery stores [Carrefour, Giant, Geant, Choithram, Waitrose etc] and I will find it only in the West Zone! Ha! I purchased at least a dozen and will definitely go back there again to purchase but next time maybe I'll buy one box of it. I'm a happy girl now.

Chips Ahoy Gooey

CHIPS AHOY Gooey (PHOTO SOURCE:GOOGLE)

Another great snack that I cannot find anywhere here in the United Arab Emirates. Yes, CHIPS AHOY is available but only the BLUE one which is dry. I do not know why a lot of delicious snacks all over the world did not and cannot find their way to come over here. Just like my all time favorite PIK-NIK. Tsk. If I have a huge amount of money sitting in my bank account I'll do a business and I'll bring all those foods that other groceries are not offering. But anyway, back to this chips ahoy what makes it better than the good old originla flavor? The blue one that we have here, first of all it is not dry which is a big deal to me. It is chewy. The chocolate chips are quite big and lastly that chewy and gooey chocolate in the middle of the biscuit. There are many other choices in the shelves but then they are not up to par with this one. I'll just wait till I get home to be able to eat it again...

Mary Cherry Chua

This story is posted by DasmaCalubayan under Philippine Urban Legends in pinoyexchange website.

I just happen to be into reading a lot lately.

This is a very popular urban legend here in the Philippines. This was made even more popular when the book, True Philippine Ghost Stories, published the story. Now whether you believe the story or not, is up to you.

Mary Cherry Chua was a young high school student in a prestigious all-girls school here in Manila. She was very well-known in her school because she was not only pretty, she was also very smart and kind. She also came from a rich family. In short, she was Miss Popular in her school. In the stories, she was described as a young girl with long black hair, creamy white skin, chinky black eyes, and was always smiling.

One day, Mary Cherry had to stay late in school because of an activity. It was near dusk already when she said goodbye to her classmates. Later that night, the frantic parents of Mary Cherry called her classmates one by one asking if they had seen their daughter, since the girl has not arrived home yet and this was very unusual since Mary Cherry diligently goes home after school. However, not one of Mary Cherry's classmates were able to say where she was.

The following morning, Mary Cherry's body was found behind a shrubbery in the school's spacious yard. She was strangled to death with her own necktie, her skirt all the way up to her chest and her panty was found below her ankles: clear indication that she was raped. Her mouth was still open, evidently she struggled for breath as her assailant choked her. Her grieving, outraged parents of course cried justice for their daughter. It was a huge scandal at that time. The school had to do damage control because what happened would not only put a black mark on the name of the school, if they wanted to keep their students (which I mentioned were all girls), they have to catch the culprit and they have to do it fast.

It was the school's good luck that the rapist went forward on his own accord. It turned out to be the school janitor who was recently fired because of being caught sleeping on the job. He decided to rape a student because he knew that it will reflect negatively on the school and he just chose Mary Cherry because she was the one of the most popular girls there. He felt really guilty after doing his crime and since his conscience continued to plagued him, he decided to surrender. The janitor was put into prison and to serve as a token to Mary Cherry's memory, the school administration erected a stone bench on the exact spot where she her body was found with the words "In Memory of Mary Cherry Chua" engraved on it.

However, the story doesn't end there. According to the students of that school, those who dared to sit on that bench will be possessed by Mary Cherry Chua. She will be made to feel how Mary Cherry felt during her last minutes in the world. Some of those who happens to pass that stone bench during dusk sometimes sees a figure of a young girl, crying nearby, perhaps crying because her bright future was taken away from her.

OTHER VERSION FROM THE SAME SOURCE. ENJOY READING:

chapter 1:

Sa Manila University, 1984...

May hinding inaasahang bagyong dumating. Napakalak as ng buhos ng ulan. Biglang lumiliwanag

Nag brown-out.

“EEEH!!” takot na napasigaw ang 2. Nagtatakbo sila hanggang narating ang girl’s cr. Napahinto sila na hingal na hingal. Dahan-dahan nilang binuksan ang pinto. Walang katao-tao sa loob. Napakadilim. Bukas ang gripo.

“Mary, Mary, Mary Chua? Nandyan ka ba? Ang tagal mo naman. May period ka ba?” nagawa pang magbiro ni Amy kahit halatang natatakot na.

“Wala dito si Mary, malamang naka-uwi na yun. Alam mo naman ang babaeng yun ang hilig mang iwan,” wika ni Mina habang pinapatay ang gripo.

Aalis na sana ang dalawa ng may nakita silang kakaiba

“Tignan mo may sariwang dugo dito!”

“Ano ka ba, syempre, natural lang yan sa girls cr. Malamang, kagagawan yan ng isang burarang babae. ”

“Papunta ang bakas ng dugo sa cubicle na yun.”

Sinundan nila ang bakas ng dugo....dahan-dahan nilang binuksan ang cubicle na yun.

“BOOOM!!” isa nanamang malakas na kulog. Dahil sa kurap ng kidlat, lumiwanag ang paligid. Dito nila nakita si Mary Chua na duguang nakabigti!

“EHHH MARY JUS KOH EHHH!!!!!!"

Kumalat sa buong Manila University ang balita. Ito na ang pinakamalaking pasabog na balita na gumimbal sa buong paaralan. Ang pagkamatay ni Mary Chua ay isang malaking misteryo

Pinterest

Pinterest. The new social networking in town. I do not know when or where it started. I have an account since last year but only this month that I became active and so far, so good. First of all, this social network is not nosy. It doesn't ask a lot of question. No need for me to use my own name nor my face as a profile photo. Just a girl anonymously sharing with the world things that caught my attention. Food, movies, places, shoes and fashion are the sample of the boards that I have. Boards is the folder where you pin the photos that you like. Happy pinning world! (in case you want to follow me look for idreamofsnow)

WHY Yahoo won't let me open my own email?

Am I the only one who experienced this?

I have this yahoo account which happens to be my main account. An email id that I had been using since college. Email Address for all those important stuff. Work. Bank. Family. Joining raffles. Close friends. I have this account for so long that I do not bother to do any changes in the settings anymore such as choosing a question nor updating my mobile number. Why would they need my mobile number anyway? And besides, I can't remember anymore how many times I changed number since the late 90's.

I have this iPod touch since 2010 and people who have an apple device knows that there are 4 icons down on the home screen (music, mail, safari, videos). Under the category of Mail, you can add an email id the beauty of it is just one tap at the Mail you will be able to read all the incoming mails, reply to them, delete them, move them to another box, or forward them. The only setback was it doesn't have "settings" so if you want to make some changes in the settings of your account you have to log on at the website.

One day I tried to open my yahoo account at work. If you enter the wrong password a message will appear that username/password is incorrect. But then when you enter the correct password (I am confident regarding my password as I am opening this email account a lot) this is where the problem happened. That I know yahoo failed me. First it asked me to write the code that I am seeing in the box which I did and it was correct. BUT INSTEAD OF OPENING MY MAILS ANOTHER BOX ANOTHER MESSAGE CAME:

"You are logging in from a device we don't recognize. Learn why For your account safety, please answer your security question below"

And I was like what the h*ll it means?
I have been using the same computer at work for more than 6 years. Same thing even in my laptop at home, which I had been using for 4 years now. So how come that they don't recognize the device? Are they pulling my leg?

Security question: Where did you spend your honeymoon?
Added July 25, 2009

AS I SAID I DID NOT CHOOSE ANY QUESTION. I AM SINGLE. SINGLE MEANS NEVER BEEN MARRIED. How am I suppose to answer a question I never choose in the first place?

Second option:
We can send a verification code to your listed phone number or alternate email address.
AGAIN, I DID NOT ENTER ANY MOBILE NUMBER NOR AN ALTERNATE EMAIL ADDRESS. Means it is totally impossible for me to retrieve my account. THAT I HAD BEEN USING MORE THAN A DECADE NOW.

I even tried opening the website using my iPod touch same thing, they don't recognize the device. When the said email account is included in the Mail section of my device. How come? Tsk.

Blackberry Q5

I can't wait for this phone to arrive. Even though until now they are not yet releasing the price for this newest Blackberry phone. I love Blackberry as this is the only smart phone that have a prepaid social package. For only 49AED per month on Etisalat I do enjoy 24/7 services for BBM, Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk (though I am not using them all). BBM, FB and Whatsapp alone has been a big help for me. Anytime of the time I can send a message to my family and friends in Manila. Which is more affordable than calling or sending them SMS. And when I am bored, Twitter is there.

UPDATE:

I was suprised that this phone has been released in the UAE earlier than expected. I saw the phone sometime in June in Dubai Mall. I was able to hold it, feel it and use it. And I fell in love with it. I was just a little disappointed as the pink color was not in display (means there will be a delay in release of this color?). Not bad for a middle range phone. Good move from RIM. I almost forgot to mention the price! It's 1,499AED less than 500AED from Z10.

Frustrated Photographer :(

That is how I describe myself..

Ever since I came here in the UAE, taking photos has been a part of my life. Capturing every moments, freezing them in time. All the little occasions in my life over here. But as time goes by, I dunno.. I do not really see any improvements. I am still bad as ever when it comes to capturing a good angle. I do not have the eye for it. Most of the times it saddens me.

But then maybe I am not really trying hard enough, while others do choose to practice everyday I choose to sleep and regain my energy from working the whole day. While others to get their ass out of the house even if it is 40 degrees I choose to jus stay at home and watch movies.

And the weekends, ahhh I spend it on malls. To see a movie and eat. And then go to grocery which again left me little time to linger and take a snap shots. Will I ever improve? I'm still hoping anyway. I do hope in the future I will have plenty of time in my hand to concentrate but for now, I just have to be and happy to be contented. Maybe, photography isn't for everyone after all. But still I am open to all advices and pointers that people will give me..
